Death

Above: My sis, Mamaw C., and me

Above: My Mamaw C and me

This is a post from my myspace on February 24, 2008. My Mamaw C. passed away on February 22, 2008. I still have my moments where I miss her terribly, but that's okay. You wouldn't miss or think of someone that you didn't love dearly. :)

So, when you have a death in the family, of course it makes you reflect and think about all sorts of things. My life since I found out my Mamaw C. passed away on Friday morning has been so emotionally draining that it's ridiculous. It's not just because of her death, but it's a lot of things going on in my life all at once.

I have realized that some people are not what they seem, I have realized that there are people in my life that I am happy to have beside me during a storm, I have realized that family is one of the most important things in this world, I have realized a lot about myself too.

We had a purity conference this weekend too. It was great actually. Just needed to give mention to that.

Anyway, my Mamaw C. was one of the most caring, loving, compassionate, amazing, stubborn, hard-headed, determined, wouldn't hurt a fly, loved Jesus with all her heart women. She amazed me all the time. So, yesterday while going through some of her personal items and pulling out stuff that made me smile because of certain memories, I could only think of the fact that the world is only temporary. Thankfully.

What have I done to make an impact in my world? It's not just what you do in your past, but what did you do today or even this past week that has made an impact? I said I had been very comtemplative today, so bear with me. I do have somewhere to go...........

Anyway, while I was at the funeral today and with all the old hymns and everything that was playing, I expected to only be thinking of my Mamaw, and I was, but you know what I was honestly sitting there balling my eyes out about? My family. My unsaved family. I was crying out to God that my family would be saved. That my Dad would FINALLY see the truth. I seriously could have just ate some carpet during the funeral and prayed. That's how strong the burden was at that time. My Mamaw, I am going to miss her dearly, but I will see her someday and she is happy being in Heaven, running on streets of gold, talking with Jesus, and being with her husband, son, brothers, parents, family members, and friends that were already home. I can't be sad for her. She's not suffering anymore.

Anyway, I wrote this for two reasons. 1.) Maybe you, the reader, can understand/feel what I am trying my best to say. That you would realize that you're not alone in your desire to make a difference and to do more, to care more, to pray and cry out to God more. 2.) For me to remember this day. That today there have been revelations and reminders. Today, things are going to change.

Love you all and thanks for reading if you did. :)

Friday the 13th....

So, I decided to post the words to a song, by my new favorite band, Tenth Avenue North. You definitely need to check them out. Anyway, he pretty much explains why they wrote the song at the beginning. The one part of the bridge that I want to point out is, "Chasing lovers that won’t satisfy." How many times do we chase the things that won't satisfy us? We search for fulfillment, but we don't find it? Why? I think it's because most of the time we haven't been on our knees asking for the lover of our soul to reveal to us what we are supposed to do or what we need. I've been guilty of that.

Beloved
Mike Donehey

“The Bible is filled with wedding metaphors. When it talks about Christ and his church, it uses the analogy of a husband and a wife. In fact you could even argue that the reason marriage exists is to point to the greater reality of Christ. Over and over and over again, Christ calls the church, not just his wife, but his wayward wife. I was thinking one day, I wondered what it would sound like if Christ gave his wedding vows to me, as his church, as his bride and what those would sound like. So ‘Beloved’ is Jesus making vows to a wayward wife and the beautiful thing about Jesus is that when you’re his bride, divorce is not an option.”

Love of my life, Look deep in my eyes, There you will find what you need

Give me your life, The lust and the lies, And the past you’re afraid I might see, You’ve been running away from me

Chorus:
You’re my beloved
lover I’m yours
Death shall not part us
It’s you I died for
For better or worse
Forever we’ll be
My love it unites us and it binds you to me
It’s a mystery

Love of my life, Look deep in my eyes, There you will find what you need

I'm the giver of life, I’ll clothe you in white, My immaculate bride you will be, Come running home to me

Bridge:
You’ve been a mistress, my wife
Chasing lovers that won’t satisfy
Won’t you let me make you my bride
You will drink of my lips and you’ll taste new life

V-day....

I "borrowed" this blog from Kara Miller (Her blogspot: http://whenwordsfailmusicexpresses.blogspot.com). Don't worry, I asked to "borrow" it. Ha ha I thought it was insightful and may encourage some of you single folks out there with V-day right around the corner. Enjoy!

How do you wait for heaven....

Then the time came whenthe risk it took to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. - Anais Nin

It's little things that often remind us that God is listening. For days the desire for a boyfriend that would eventually become my husband and the father of my children, stirred in my heart as it so often does. I wanted to scream my desire from the nearest rooftop (we don't have mountains in north Florida) but shame told me that I should just keep how I was feeling bottled up inside. While blogging this afternoon I couldn't keep it quiet any more. Near the end I threw in that I'm tired of being single. I quickly followed it up with instructions to all who may read to save their preaching... I already know it all!

Last night I finally finished reading "Talent is Never Enough" by John Maxwell. I had been vacillating over what to read next. The debate was between a "fun" book, like Jane Austen or another fictional book from my roommate's library, or a spiritual one. Preparing to go to bed I put the finished book back in its place on the shelf (in alpha order by author) and started pondering again. I read the back of one book I had thought of reading when suddenly a thought struck me. "Do I have that Captivate book? I think the author's name starts with an 'e'." Sure enough in the "e" section was "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldridge. (Yes, I have so many books that I don't really know what I have.)

Before I even cracked the cover I got the sense that by the end many of its pages will be stained with my tears. The quote above was one of the first things to tug at my heart. The second was, "We feel unseen, even by those who are closest to us. We feel unsought - that no one has the passion or the courage to pursue us, to get past our messiness to find the woman deep inside..." Yup! That was only page 7.

Then Stasi wrote, "When we are young, we want to be precious to someone - especially Daddy. As we grow older, the desire matures into a longing to be pursued, desired, wanted as a woman." She then wrote of a young woman who asked, "Why am I so embarrassed of the depth of my desire for this?" Stasi went on to write, "We were talking about her life as a single woman, and how she love her work but would much rather be married. 'I don't want to hang my life on it, but still, I yearn.' Of course. You're a woman."

WOW! There was such freedom in that. There's NO SHAME in my desiring a husband, a life-long best friend and co-adventurer. God made me to desire to love and be loved.

The lyrics to Born to Fly are all that came to mind when titling this blog:

I've been telling my dreams to the scarecrow
About the places that I'd like to see
I say, "Friend do you think I'll ever get there?"
Oh, and he just stands there smiling back at me

So, I confess my sins to the preacher
About the love I've been praying to find
Is there a brown eyed boy in my future?
He says, "Girl you've got nothing but time."

But how do you wait for heaven?
And who has that much time?
And how do you keep your feet on the ground
When you know
That you were born to fly?

My Anti-Valentine........

Anywho, for those that have seen my quote up on any of my status':

"We fall in love when our imagination projects nonexistent perfection upon another person. One day, the fantasy evaporates and with it, love dies."

The reason I put this quote up is because it is so true. We have all these expectations that we set up because of what we have seen in movies, heard in a song, read in a book, seen on the outside of a couple's relationship (the outside can look perfect, but it's not always so), etc. So, when we fall in love, that person is "perfect." The thing is that none of us are perfect, especially by the standards that God sets before us. We can strive for perfection, but until we are in Heaven, we aren't, nor will we ever be perfect here on the earth. So, when we set someone up on the pedestal of perfection, most of the time we are disappointed, hurt, feel betrayed, etc. Why am I saying all of this? Because I have been there. I have put people up on that pedestal before and then when they crashed, they knocked me down right with them.

Our idea of love should be based on what God says that love is: love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, it is not proud, rude, self-seeking, easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres and most of all love never fails. (1 Cor. 13) How many of you have had any of these emotions? Jealousy, keeping records of wrongs, not trusting......yep, been there. Again, we're not perfect, but these are the things that we should live by. This is how God loves us. He's always patient. He is never rude. He keeps no record of our wrongs once we've asked for forgiveness. Well, I could keep going, but I think you get the point.

God's love for us surpasses anything that we can even imagine or think. When we make a commitment to God it's a lifelong thing that lasts through eternity. So, when you get in a dating relationship with someone or if it's just a friend or a family member; don't set them on a pedestal. It's a commitment. No one belongs up on a pedestal except God. He's the only one that won't fall or fail you. I guess that's what I've been trying to say this whole time.

Anywho, more to come on this subject matter. Stay tuned. ;) <3

To go deep or to not go deep.....that is the question.

So, as I am reflecting on just the absolute goodness of God to His children. I'm wondering if I should make this a deep blog or just keep it simple. Hmmm....

What it really comes down to in my life right now is that I am so extremely blessed with things that I didn't even know I needed. Friends that can make me laugh, think, and just let me be myself around them. Understand my zany sense of humor and everything. Ha ha I didn't know that I needed them, but God always knows what He is doing and what we need regardless of if we think we are fine or not. :)

Things are stirring on the inside of me. There are changes in the wind and opportunities to take. This year, I have decided that I will take more risks and that I won't let fear hold me back. I have also decided that I will do the things that I have never done before but wanted to....go to a hockey game, Renaissance Festival, Corn Maze, etc.

Bettering myself for me and no one else. Ha ha That's goes in all aspects of my life: spiritually, physically, mentally, etc. I have been trying to eat better and also working out. I don't want something as simple as bad health to hold me back from doing anything that my heart desires.

I refuse to be a part of "drama" filled people's lives. It's not worth my sanity. If it's none of my business, then I honestly don't want to know. So, don't tell me. I'll live without getting caught up in that junk.

I guess this is just a rant/rave about things, but maybe some of you feel the same way. I don't know.
